The reference book on reserve (Macintosh Bible Guide to ClarisWorks, chapter 9) will provide you with sufficient information to use AppleWorks. Directions

1.  For this assignment use the AppleWorks Paint tool to create a picture representing the type of music you prefer to hear.  Your picture can be for any type of music.  The important part of this assignment is that the picture illustrate your preference.

2.  Your picture should have a title (My Favorite Music), centered at the top of the picture.  At the bottom of the picture include a one-line statement telling why this music appeals to you.  You may also include characters, caricatures, scenery, or objects to enhance the overall image you want to convey.

3.  This assignment is worth 15 points. Your picture will be judged on how you used AppleWorks Paint features to enhance your image, not on artistic talent. You will receive two points for using the lasso, text (A), and eraser in creating the poster and one point for each additional Paint feature or tool used in the poster (up to fifteen points).

4.  When you have completed the picture, use the AppleWorks Paint text feature (A) to center the required text at the top and bottom of the poster; to list your name, section and TA name in the lower right corner; and to list the AppleWorks Paint features you used in the lower left corner. Remember to include the grabber, text, and eraser when you list the featues you used in the lower left corner.

5.  Save your AppleWorks Paint file to your Briefcase.  You will use this file as one of the slides in the PowerPoint assignment.
Note:  Do not save your Paint file as a .cwk file; it will not copy correctly into PowerPoint.   Click the Hide Extension box in the  lower left of the SAVE AS dialog box when you name your file.

! STOP !  Do Not Print Your Picture! Your picture will be submitted to Sakai and be included as a slide in the PowerPoint presentation you create as the next assignment.
